
A visitor brought this bloom in a little bud vase. It broke off while he was watering. This morning, the bloom on the right opened! They really are such tough little beauties.
And, the best coincidence today. I was brooding over my Phalaenopsis schilleriana—you know, the sulky one from my last post about Phals—and I found the teeniest, shyest little leaf beginning to peek out. I wasn’t sure whether to rejoice or just pray harder for its success. Here’s my reluctant schilleriana, along with a closeup on the new leaf:


Later, I queued up a Nelson video for my calisthenics distraction and he offered this on his schilleriana, which he also bought as a tiny plant with only two leaves (click the image for the clip—YouTube decided to not play nicely with WordPress, so I had to bury the link in a still from the video ¯\_(☯෴☯)_/¯):
